Plastic bags are one of the most obvious displays of our throw-away society. In Australia alone, we use over 4 billion single-use plastic bags every year, that's over 10 million each day! 200,000 bags are dumped in landfill every hour, and they take between 15 and 1000 years to degrade.
Daycare centres often have to use plastic bags to send home wet or soiled clothes. This does not have to be the only way! We have put together a pack of 15x Little Wet Bags that daycare centres can use as a trial for their community. The little wet bags are provided by the centre and labelled with a "Boomerang Project" tag which notifies parents that the wet bag provided needs to be washed and returned the following day for another family to use. Like a boomerang, it must come back.
Parents and educators will learn how to use more sustainable practices in their centre to help reduce plastic waste. Our aim with this project is to educate, inform and implement an easy to use system which will help save the environment.
All daycare centres in Australia are invited to participate in the Boomerang Project. If you would like more information about how to implement this in your centre, please use the contact form below with your location and name of your daycare centre. We will send you information about how to get the Boomerang Project Started.
